Chamonix Lift Opening, Dates & Info
Following the devastating fire that destroyed the mid-station of Les Grands Montets on September 11th we wanted to share with you the planned opening for Chamonix for this winter as soon as possible. So here it is!
Grands Montets: Weekends from 17th November, every day from December 7th (conditions pending)
All areas of Les Grands Montets will open as planned apart from the Lognan telecabine and the top of Les Grands Montets. Access will be via the new Plan Joran (10 man gondola) and Mont Blanc Natural Resort are working with local guides to create ski touring access to the summit of Les Grands Montets at 3,300m. PLEASE NOTE: experience and the right equipment required. This will be entirely off-piste and predominantly over a glacier.
Brevent-Flegere & Balme-Vallorcine: From December 8th (conditions pending)
Les Houches: Weekends from 17th November, every day from December 7th (conditions pending)
Aiguille du Midi (Top section): information pending but will open this winter
In our experience (of 5 years) the chances of any of our ski areas opening in November or even early December is rare, the last time this happened was 2012, but it doesn’t mean it can’t happen again. We expect full opening by December 22nd for those thinking about when to come out.
In regards to ski passes, if you are planning on staying close to town or are new to skiing, the Chamonix Le Pass covers Brevent, Flegere, Grands Montets, Balme, Vallorcine, Savoy and Planards.
The Mont Blanc unlimited pass provides additional access to the top of the Aiguille du Midi, Montenvers, Evasion Mont Blanc (including Megeve) Les Portes du Mont Blanc, Saint Gervais and Les Contamines. Annual ski passes also cover unlimited access to Courmayeur and the skyway, 3 vouchers for other areas in Haute Savoie and 50% off 6, 1-day passes at Verbier.
